Kids Wooden Storage
A child's room is a special place and toy storage is something that becomes an important consideration. There are many options for toy storage but for overall durability wood is the way to go. Plastics will, often, not stand the test of time the way wooden units will. A wooden toy chest or storage bin will stand up to children climbing on it and will also handle those heavy toys being tossed in after play.
Parents have many options in children's wooden storage. Wood may be more expensive but it is also much more durable. Even a soft wood, such as pine, will last the lifetime of your child or longer if the unit is well built. Tongue and groove joints add character and durability as well as being ascetically pleasing to the eye.
A simple solid kid's wooden storage chest is one practical option. Wood chests also makes for a wonderful imaginary ship or race car and can even come in shapes such as a wooden train storage box. Expect the toys to be out of the toy box as much as in it. A wooden toy chest may later be used as a blanket box or hope chest once your child is grown. A chest of cedar wood then becomes a very viable option for later use. Consider the lid hinges and check to be sure that they do not easily slam shut for safety of small fingers.
Another wonderful option is a wooden toy storage rack with bins. Primary colors are always quite practical for any child's room decor. The plastic bins are removable for easy clean up. Your child can take out one bin, at a time, and replace them when playtime is over. These bins are light and easy for small hands to handle.
Kid's wooden storage lockers are extremely functional for a child's room as they provide a way to hide the toys out of sight. Many locker systems have bins and hanging units inside. Children always love hiding places to store their toys. Locker systems can also be used for clothing items. Make sure that a stand up locker system is screwed securely to the wall, for the safety of the child. Tall units are top heavy and can topple over easily onto a child that is trying to climb upon it.
Overall wood is the way to go for any child's room. Wood is durable, practical and will last a lifetime. Wooden items can be used over and over and can be handed down from child to child as well. Wood can also be repainted, as the child grows, to match any changes made to their room decor.
